The Outsiders

The Outsiders at Tivoli Theatre - Chattanooga

You only realize how close you are to the action when you see Ponyboy look for Johnny across the stage and find him in a crowd of Greasers that could be anyone’s friends. The energy in the Tivoli Theatre changes with every word and chord, and somehow you feel just as exposed as the characters.

The Tony-winning stage adaptation takes S. E. Hinton’s novel and gives it muscle and heart with new music written for this show. Jamestown Revival and Justin Levine’s songs don’t just underline the story. they let the characters sing what they can never quite say out loud. The sounds of Tulsa’s streetlights and backyards drift through guitars and vocals right in front of you, building the world from scratch instead of settling for nostalgia.

There’s something about sharing this story with people you know. maybe a friend who used to swear by the book, or someone who always rooted for the wrong crowd. In person, class and belonging feel even sharper. When a character risks everything, you see the sweat on their brow, and if you’re lucky, you’ll hear someone next to you quietly rooting for them.

Invite that person who always talks about sticking together and make a Chattanooga night out of it. Get ticket options for The Outsiders at the Tivoli Theatre and see why some stories feel even bigger when you’re in the middle of them.
