The REMakes
The REMakes at The Barrelhouse Ballroom
Put on an early R.E.M. record and see how much you can recognize before the singer finishes a line. The REMakes concentrate on that early catalog. Hearing the tribute live gives you a chance to follow the guitar and rhythm parts that make those songs feel so familiar even when the words are hard to pin down. The REMakes comes to The Barrelhouse Ballroom in Chattanooga on Friday, November 13, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.
Early alternative rock can be a good excuse to get a couple of friends out of the house on a Friday. One of you can follow the guitar texture and another can spend the song listening for the vocal. You’ll have plenty to compare without needing the tribute band to play any one particular favorite. The early catalog gives both listeners a place to start.
Take the person who first lent you one of those records, or someone who got curious about the band years after you did. You can compare which sounds sent you looking for more music and listen for the same details as the tribute takes them back into a club setting.
Look up tickets for the REMakes and spend a Friday with the early R.E.M. catalog.
