Greylan James
Greylan James at The Barrelhouse Ballroom
You may know a Greylan James lyric from somebody else’s voice. He’s written songs recorded by artists including Kenny Chesney and Cole Swindell, and a show under his own name gives you a chance to hear what he does with his writing himself. Listen for the detail he chooses to give a little more weight. Greylan James comes to The Barrelhouse Ballroom in Chattanooga on Saturday, December 12, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.
The appeal goes beyond recognizing a credit. The way a writer phrases a line in his own voice can put the emphasis somewhere you didn’t expect. For a listener who cares about the small decisions that make a country song memorable, that’s worth putting the phone down and hearing in the room. A line you already know can sound different coming from its writer.
James grew up in Knoxville, and the Wedding Season Tour brings him to Chattanooga with Carson Wallace on the bill. Take a friend who keeps track of the songwriter credits, or one who’s never thought about them. Compare the lines you remember once you’ve heard the people behind the songs in person.
