Grungefest

Grungefest at The Barrelhouse Ballroom

Alice in Chains and Stone Temple Pilots could come out of the same radio speaker and leave you in different moods. At GrungeFest, Willow pays tribute to Alice in Chains and Creep covers Stone Temple Pilots. The pairing is a reason to hear how two bands approach the weight, hooks and voices of that era. GrungeFest comes to The Barrelhouse Ballroom in Chattanooga on Friday, December 18, 2026, at 8:00 p.m.

It’s also a good night to take someone who came to grunge years after it was on the radio. You can listen to the same guitar part for different reasons, one of you remembering where you first heard it and the other just hearing how it fits with the voice. That’s something a playlist rarely gives you time to talk about.

Bring someone who used to have very firm opinions about which of those records belonged in the car. You can spend the evening listening for what you heard in them back then, or decide that a riff you never paid much attention to deserves another listen. There’s plenty to talk about after two tribute sets.
